We covered up to Doha 18 of Kishkindha Kand in Ramcharit Mans of Tulsidas in the last post and this is further to it.

While Shri Ram sent Lakshman to Sugreev to remind him his duty that he seemed to have forgotten or was neglecting, Hanuman, the minister of Sugreev, was mindful already of the fact that Sugreev had forgotten his commitment to work for the Lord as already explained to him. Hanuman therefore went to Sugreev and paid respect in line with his position viz a viz him and then explained to him all possible consequences.

(Here we see how a wise and able counsel works fearlessly for the benefit of master without being indecent or arrogant.)

When Sugreev introspected his own conduct he found it to be unbecoming of a friend and improper as an obliged person; that he had failed in hid duty to serve the Lord, he felt very disturbed and fearful of the consequences. He came to realize too that indulgence and pleasure orientation had weakened his discretion and ability to conduct rightly (this a most common affliction converting wise in to fools). He then asked, Hanuman, the son of Marut (the wind-god), to send search parties and troops consisting of monkeys that formed his army; he also asked to convey to out going parties to return within a week to report back failing which they would meet death at his hands (results form people only can be expected when there is a reasonable dead line given and fear of punishment for failure is instilled).

Hanuman then summoned all concerned messengers and detectives and treated them very respectfully (respect from seniors brings out the best in the executives) and then explained them that reward and punishment both await them (no nonsense attitude of the commander works for the lower ranks). All then left after bowing down at the feet of Hanuman to carry out what was instructed.

Immediately afterwards Lakshman showed up in the capital city, very much charged and agitated which made all the monkeys who came across him fly in fear to escape his wrath. Lakshman declared with his bow and arrow in state of readiness that he was going to burn the city totally sending down chill down the spine of all in the city. Noting the citizens’ distress Angad, son of Bali, came forward to meet Lakshman (Angad had been left in care of Shri Ram by his father Bali and had devotion for the Lord hence he did not have any fear).

We have now covered up to Doha 19 of Kishkindha Kand.
