We covered up to Doha 19 in Kishkindha Kand in Ramcharit Manas of Tulsidas in the last post and this is further to it.

Angad first put his head at feet of Lakshman and then politely tried to placate his temper. Lakshman thereafter assured Angad to be fearless under his protective arm (as there was no intention to bring harm to any one but let the fear work for betterment of a friend and a devotee). Sugreev, the king of monkeys, also learned of Lakshman coming there in a very angry mood. He became very disturbed fearing badly the consequence of Lakshman being angry and told Hanuman, “O Hanuman, please pay attention, you must now take Tara with you and meet the Prince Lakshman and explain (that our teams have already been sent to discover Sita).”

Hanuman, accompanied by Tara, approached Lakshman and paid respects. Hanuman then remembered Shri ram, the Lord, discussing His glories, His graciousness and immense power that was now known to all (after Bali was killed).” Hanuman then prayed Lakshman to visit Sugreev’s palace and took him there. After washing Lakshman’s feet, Hanuman took him directly to the inner chamber of Sugreev and seated him right on the bed of Sugreev (as if to convey that there is nothing to hide from Lakshman and also to convey to Sugreev that he should not expect to now sleep without fear as the Sheshnaag, the Serpent-god i e has come there and should remain firmly established on course of duty towards the Lord).

Sugreev, the king of monkeys, then bowed down before Laskhman and Lakshman picked him up holding arm and brought him to his bosom. Sugreev told Lakshman by way of an admission, “O Master, the sense gratification through pleasure giving objects causes too much intoxication, even the Munis have been known to instantly come under its influence.”

Sugreev’s truthfulness and humble admission made Lakshman happy and in turn  he gave Sugreev some useful advice (as one who had mastered dispassion). Hanuman then told all that had been done so far and the way the groups of messengers had been dispatched in all directions. Later Sugreev, together with Angad, trusted luietinents and other high ranking ministers proceeded to meet Shri Ram, the Lord of Raghus, keeping Lakshman in the lead (signifying that though he was a king but was now totally under command of Lakshman hence not only Lord Shri Ram but Lakshman too could order him as he wished, displaying his devotion and as also his dispassion, the most essential traits of a real Bhakta).

We have now covered up to Doha 20 of Kishkindha Kand.
