The monkeys in the group thought that the time allotted to them to discover Sita was now about to end and their goal remains distant. They discussed among themselves that unless they find out about Sita no purposed would be served. Angad also now had tears in in his eyes (as a more responsible member of the team he worried for rest) and said, “we have to die in both ways, spending time here without finding Sita we don’t have much resource to stay alive and if we return also our king will kill us. In fact he (Sugreev) would have killed me right after my father’s death but Shri Ram, the Lord, saved me; he therefore doesn’t deserve the credit for the same.” In this manner Angad kept repeating that death was now a certainty for them. The brave monkey warriors listened to what Angad said and could not contradicts him while tears kept flowing from their eyes too.

For a while all of them remained engaged in deep thought; then all of them concluded and said to Angad, “O Yuvraj (crown-prince), you are an able person, we would not go back without meeting Sita (as brave leaders they thought why should they accept defeat before dying)”

With this resolve all of them set down on the shore of the sea of saline water (which offered them no hope to stay alive). Jamvant, the old intelligent bear, took note of Angad’s dilemma and began to give sermons to him, “O Taat (young man), you must not mistake Ram as just a human being; you must know Him to be the same Supreme Lord of Universe whom we know as never born, non-conquerable and formless.

“He has taken avatar on this earth under His own sweet will for the sake of gods, earth, cows and the Dwijas (the twice born i e Brahmins). Those who worship Him as embodied in His avatari form, remain attached to Him and enjoy His presence not caring for Moksha (i e liberation from cycle of birth and death which will deny them pleasure of His company as a Lord with whom thy can more easily relate).

(When the momentary weakness develops in the seekers of Sita i e Bhakti, and it seems end of the road, the Katha helps to regain confidence which is what wise Jamvant thought to help them with. Those who are able to keep faith even in death like situations by listening to Lord’s glories, do succeed in the end as the help arrives.)

We have now covered up to Doha 26 of Kishkindha Kand.
