We covered up to Doha 7 in Sundar Kand in Ramcharit Manas of Tulsidas in the last post and this is further to it.

Hanuman lastly told Vibhishan,”knowing Shri Ram to be such (considerate and benign) Master, if someone turns away from Him or forgets to remember Him then why he would not be unhappy and in a sorry state.” Deliberating in this manner over the virtues of Shri Ram, both (Vibhishan and Hanuman) had such taste of peace and rest of the kind that is difficult to be verbalized (the God is beyond description and so is the pleasure of devotee drawn through reflecting on Him and His virtues).

Vibhishan now took up the matter concerning Sita and told all about how and where she was being kept in confinement. Hanuman then expressed his wish to visit Janki Sita, the mother. Vibhishan then gave him all the clues about locating her and finding way leading to her; without wasting further time Pawansut Hanuman took leave of Vibhishan and left in search of Sita.

Once again Hanuman reduced himself in to a tiny form and reached Ashik Van where Sita now lived in confinement. When Hanuman had first glimpse of her, he mentally did Pranam to her. Hanuman then observed that Sita  spent the rest of night sitting only; he found her bodily weak and having her matted hair, singularly braided, arranged over her head. She was all the time engaged in thinking of the virtues of Raghupati Shri Ram, one after the other.

Throughout keeping her own eyes fixed on her own feet with head bent, she was only mentally engaged in visualizing the lotus feet of Shri Ram. This pitiable condition of Sita made Pawansut Hanuman extremely sad (particularly because he had strength to rescue Sita then and there but had to control his emotion having been warned by Jamvant earlier that he was not to exceed the brief; also for a son it is most painful to see his mother in any kind of bondage or helplessness).

We have now covered up to Doha 8 of Sundar Kand.
