We covered up to Doha 21 of Sundar Kand in Ramcharit Manas of Tulsidas in the last post and this is further to it.

Hanuman further told Ravan, “I know about your lordliness and about your valor, once you had occasion to fight with King Sahasbahu (and lost) and then you became famous after engaging in war with Bali (when you lost to him too).”

When Ravan listened to the monkeys sarcastic references to his encounters where he had tasted defeats, he simply laughed to ward off his embarrassment. Hanuman then came to the point ‘why he did what he did’ and said, “O Master, i ate the fruits in order to satiate my hunger and it was just the display of my natural temperament that the trees were destroyed too. Everybody loves his body the most, O Swami, and those who tread on wrong path mostly began to inflict injuries on me. Who hurt me were hurt back by me and were killed in the process but your son has still captured me (though I retaliated in self-defense which never is an offence).

“Getting tied with ropes is not something I am ashamed of, the fact is that I want to accomplish the task of my own Lord (which includes having an interaction with you), I therefore submit humbly to you that you listen to my beneficial advice without being arrogant and stubborn (which subdues the capacity to grasp the substance of the matter). Just look at your family (who should remain safe) and decide; just get over the your delusion and worship the one who dispels the fear of the Bhaktas (i e the Supreme Lord). It is Him who is feared by even the Kaal i e death; the death which devours gods, demons as well as other things and beings whether moving or stationery, with passage of time.

“You must not ever make Him your enemy and taking my advice you must return Janki Sita (i e return the Mayic power of the Lord which only should remain with the Lord, those trying to capture it will only see their own destruction; to think that total control can be established over the natural power of the Lord is to call for own destruction).

“Raghunayak (the leader of Raghus) Shri Ram, is savior of those who seek refuge under Him, He is abundantly merciful and is known to have killed demon Khar (literal meaning of Khar is evil character); if you come under His protection and shelter you will be kept unharmed and safe, and your sins and misdeeds will be forgotten by Him.”

We have now covered up to Doha 22 of Sundar Kand.
