We covered up to Doha 22 of Sundar Kand in Ramcharit Manas of Tulsidas in the last post and this is further to it.

Hanuman gave Ravan low down on many more points by saying, “You may keep imprinted the feet of Shri Ram on your heart and rule over Lanka without break for a long long time (as the kingdom of Lanka is not at the bottom of conflict). You must not be blot on the clean and moon like shining fame and glory of Rishi Pulastya (Ravan’s ancestor). You will realize that nobody’s speech is liked or is worth if its not laced with Ram-naam, the name of the Lord but this realization will come only when you shun arrogance and obsession; O Surari, the enemy of gods, a woman though very well ornamented does not look decent. If one is opposed to Ram, the Lord, all his wealth and majesty goes away, it should be seen as gone right when it is acquired, in such a case.

“The rivers which don’t have a perennial source of water of their own get dried right after rain is over. Listen O Dashkanttha (demon having ten throats (here Hanuman meant that Ravan might have tens of arguments to make), I tell you just this by taking one stand and pledge that for the one who is inimical to Shri Ram, none can be his savior. Innumerable Brahmas, Vishnus and Shakaras (one of whom you have pleased with your penance) can’t save you simply because you have chosen to be hostile to Shri Ram.

“Lastly, learn that at the root of delusion which causes innumerable pricks is the false price born of Tamas (the Guna that keeps in darkness and stupor) and it should be got over with; you must instead begin to worship and remember Raghunayak Shri Ram, who is none other than the most merciful Lord Himself.”

We have now covered up to Doha 23 of Sundar Kand.
