We covered up to Doha 25 of Sundar Kand in Ramcharit Manas of Tulsidas in the last post and this is further to it.

Hanuman’s body though expended greatly was still light hence he jumped from one house to another with alacrity; in the process the whole city burned, flame fury of fire posing unbounded challenges and this made people disheveled, wary and weary. Calls of distress were only to be heard, every young one crying for mother’s and father’s help at this juncture. Most now claimed that they had warned in the beginning itself that it was no ordinary monkey but it was one from among the gods who had assumed the form of a monkey (everyone was wiser after the event otherwise they themselves only had taken the monkey around the city).

It was nothing but the outcome of treating a Sadhu (saintly person) badly with vengeance and disregard that the city was burning without a guardian capable enough to help. In matter of minutes the city was burned down by Hanuman, he kept the house of Vibhishan safe however. Hanuman also remained safe from being harmed by fire because he was the messenger of the same one who created the fire in the first place (i e the Supreme Lord). Hanuman ran hither, thither and all over and ensured that nothing of Lanka remained unconsumed by fire; he lastly made a jump right in to the sea.

After quenching tail which was put on fire by the demons and also cooling the heat of his body and getting relieved of tiredness, Hanuman assumed his smaller form back again and stood in front of Sita with his hands folded and palms joined.

We have now covered up to Doha 26 of Sundar Kand.
