We covered up to Doha 26 of Sundar Kand in Ramcharit Mnas of Tulsidas in the last post and this is further to it.

Hanuman stood before Sita reverentially but was aware that it was time to leave and it was needed too that he had some thing by way an identification to show to Shri Ram that he had really met Sita as tricksters abounded in Lanka and a doubt could always might lurk in this respect otherwise. Hanuman therefore asked Sita, “O Mother, you may also hand me some thing as a token in the same way that Raghunayak Shri Ram had given me for you to believe that I was really his messenger.”

Sita then obliged Pawansut Hanuman by handing him the gem she had been wearing over her head and Hanuman took it with pleasure for it was to serve a purpose (as otherwise no son would ever want a piece of jewelry worn by mother even in most difficult of circumstances faced by himself but here it was needed to serve the mother and the father, the Lord Himself; normal customs might be broken in service of the Lord).

Sita then told Hanuman,”O Son, you may convey my salutation and regard to the Lord with the following message of mine, ‘Lord, You never have unfulfilled desires yourself and have capacity to fulfill all desires of your Bhaktas; You also have a reputation that You always have mercy for dreary suffers, upholding it You may bring an end to my gravest sufferings too, O Master.’ Son, you may also relate the story of son of Lord Indra who for a small misdemeanor had been punished by him by sending an arrow chasing him while on the run, You must explain how much power His arrow is packed with. Lastly you must also tell that if the Lord doesn’t come within 30 days from now to rescue me, He would only find me dead.”

Breaking down now because the moment to separate from the son was near, she told Hanuman, “Son, you too are asking leave, how would I be able to continue to breathe (separation from son is also not easy for a mother). When I had chance to eye you, I felt some relief and my burning heart cooled down; I am now faced with the grim prospect of having the same tough to pass days and nights.”

Hanuman then pacified Janaksuta Janki in many ways and gave her reasons to be patient; bowing down at the lotus feet of mother Sita, the monkey returned back to see Shri Ram.

(Bhakti is like mother, a mother is always ready to give something to the son like Sita gave Hanuman a gem, when she is served well, the Bhaktas become competent and deserving candidates to receive graces of the father, the Lord, as Hanuman will receive in abundance on getting back.)

We have now covered up to Doha 27 of Sundar Kand.
