We covered up to Doha 42 of Sundar kand in Ramcharit Mans of Tulsidas in the last post and this is further to it.

Right after Vibhishan left Ravan’s place, badly hurt and dishonored, declaring as he did lastly, all the ones left behind had their fate sealed, only awaiting the impending death. “It isn’t unusual, Bhavani (Parvati), ” said Lord Shiv, “whenever a Sadhu (saint) is ill treated and brushed off disrespectfully, it invariably results in loss of every thing and takes away all kind of blessings. Ravan, in that light, became devoid of all his opulence, riches and power immediately up on forsaking Vibhishan in an undeserved manner.”

Vibhishan on the other hand set on a course, with great aplomb and delight, to meet Raghunayak Shri Ram; he nursed very many heartfelt wishes for this occasion. He hoped to have a glimpse of lotus feet of Shri Ram which he knew would be pinkish being unsullied and soft and which always are source of immense pleasure for servants and devotees. Vibhishan was reminded of the episode when Ahalya, consort of Rishi Gautam, got liberated after touch of those feet of the Lord which had sanctified the cursed Dandak forest while He walked across. He hoped to see the very same feet of the Lord which Janaksuta Sita used to rest on her bosom and keeps in her heart all the time; which also chased the deceptive deer (up on Sita’s insistence). He praised his own luck at the prospect of having look of the same feet of the Lord which remain present like lotus in the heart’s lake of Lord Shiv.

Vishishan’s resolve was only this that he would fix his gaze on those feet of the Lord which had worn those sandals which gave Bharat reason to stay back in Ayodhya and helped his heart find solace (in times of separation and resulting hardship).

(Vibhishan relished the Leelas of the Lord in his heart while going to meet the Lord. The various actions and deeds of Shri Ram have a deep meaning and mark of righteousness and the ultimate Dharma but all this reflects in ones’ heart when pondered over and over again. When this is done i e the Katha of Shri Ram is remembered continuously, a time comes when the devotee happens to meet the Lord.)

We have now covered up to Doha 42 of Sundar kand.
