We covered up to Doha 57 of Sundar Kand in Ramcharit Manas of Tulsidas in the last post and this is further to it.

Ravan first listened to what his agents were to tell but with fear in his heart while apparently smiling (the arrogant people never display real emotions) and later began to loudly speak for everyone to be able to listen, “The younger of the two ascetics (Tapaswies) is trying to grab sky while lying at the level of earth; his message is nothing more than indulgence in word-play (the deceitful never divulge what they really think).”

Shuk, the agent, replied at first in the same manner as his master had done (i e speaking what would please the master knowing fully well that it was patently untrue) and said, “O Master, whatever you speak is just true.” Shuk could not maintain the falsehood (now having seen Shri Ram, the Lord) and reverted to be truthful again and told Ravan next, “Kindly understand and leave your arrogant nature for a while as you would understand only when you have done that. Carefully listen to my words while not being angry. You must stop being an adversary of Shri Ram for he has a tender heart and amiable disposition even when He is the Lord of all the entire universe.

“As soon as you would meet the Lord, He will bestow on you all kind of graces and would not reflect on any of your crimes and sins. In this light you must now return Sita, the daughter of Janak, to Raghunath (to whom she is married). My lord, just care to do this much at least.”

Ravan was quick to respond when he listened to the advice asking him to return Vaidehi Sita, and the fool hit Shuk with his foot. Shuk also wasted no further time and just bowed down and left for the place where Raghunayak Shri Ram was stationed. Doing Pranam to the Lord, he related his own story and assumed his real self with the help of kind graces of Shri Ram; he was in fact a knowledgeable and accomplished Muni but was turned in to a demon on account of curse of great Rishi Agastya. The Muni gratefully bowed down at the feet of Shri Ram, the Lord, time and again and finally stepped in to his own ashram and resumed the practices that he was busy with earlier in accordance with his stage in life when he was cursed, to be finally liberated.

Now on the other side the ocean, as an non-living entity and therefore stubborn, did not appreciate the request of Shri Ram even after the third day of His remaining in meditative stance on the shore. Shri Ram, now developed some anger his heart before He spoke, with realization that the dumb in fact do not yield unless they are instilled fear in heart and that the crucial time had been wasted.

we have now covered up to Doha 57 of Sundar Kand.
