Kalnemi, finally declared his agreement, though under duress, to create some false set up in the way of Hanuman as per instruction of Ravan and he did create an ashram like place which had a pond, a mandir and a beautiful garden etc demonstrating his capacity to deceive. Hanuman saw an inviting ashram right on his way and as he was thirsty he decided to drink some water there and lose some fatigue too, but only after having permission of Muni in charge there. The demon had already put himself there very well disguised as a Muni with a view to distract the messenger of none other than the Lord of Maya itself (though the demon had fully well known that it was impossible to influence Hanuman in any way).

When Hanuman reached ashram, he bowed down at feet of the Muni in disguise customarily and the Muni began to sing praises of Shri Ram describing His virtues (to have Hanuman’s trust placed in himself). He also said, “that there is big fight going on between Shri Ram and Ravan and there is no doubt that Shri Ram would win. I have power of intuitive insight due to abundant strength of my knowledge hence I have seen it all even though I am just sitting here (it was some thing in self praise which might have  alerted Hanuman about the real motives). Hanuman then asked for water and was given a jug filled with water, at this Hanuman said that this small quantity will not satisfy him. The Muni responded by saying, “alright, go and you may use water of pond in the manner you wish and come back quickly. I would then initiate you by giving Deeksha enabling you to have knowledge (again this went beyond a normal conversation in first meeting indicating to Hanuman that something was amiss; also it might be that Muni was deliberating doing it as he didn’t want the messenger of the Lord fall prey to what he had planned as he had had some glimpse of the reality of the Lord).”

As soon as Hanuman (already alerted by Muni’s interaction) lowered himself in to the pond his foot was frantically caught by a female alligator; Hanuman killed her instantly and she went to heaven assuming a divine body in a divine craft (as she also had agreed to lay down life along with Muni therefore she enacted a piece as Ravan wanted with full knowledge that it would be end of her live hence deserved to go to heaven only).

While departing she said, O Monkey, I have become sinless by having your Darshan and the curse under which I was living as alligator was given by a great Muni and it has now become ineffective. You may also know that this Muni here is not a Muni in reality but is a dangerous demon; you must take my words to be true, O Monkey.” Saying this when the cursed nymph departed, Hanuman, the monkey, went back to the demon in disguise and said, “O Muni, first accept Gurudakshina (fee offered to Guru) only after words give the Mantra for salvation.” Hanuman then tied demon’s head with his tail and smashed on ground. The demon also came back in to his real form while dying and left for final journey saying Ram-Ram repeatedly. Listening to this Hanuman left the scene with great happiness (for the departing soul now would have good time after-life).

Finally when Hanuman reached the desired mountain he found it difficult to select the right medicinal herb hence he ripped out the whole mountain to take back. When Hanuman reached the skies above Ayodhya holding a big mountain and rushing ahead, he was spotted by vigilant eyes of Bharat.

Bharat thought this is some giant type of night roaming demon and hence shot off a blunt arrow pulling string of the bow up to his own ear in the direction of the flying object.
