When Shri Ram finished honouring the Brahmins at the banks of Holy Ganges at Prayag, He confided in Hanuman to go to Avadhpur in guise of a young student and convey to Bharat the wellbeing of Himself and bring the news from Bharat’s end. Pawansut Hanuman left immediately to carry out instructions and the Lord went to see Muni Bharadwaj. Muni worshipped Ram, the Lord in many ways and then sang His praises; Shri Ram too held Muni in high regard and prayed with hands joined and received blessings from Muni Later Shri Ram, the Lord, boarded the aerial car and moved on. On the other side of Ganges, Nishadraj Guha learned of Lord Shri Ram’s arrival and therefore called people sending boats to collect them (a true Bhakta never wants others to miss the glimpses of the Lord). The aircraft landed crossing the divine river according to the wish of the Lord. Sita then worshipped the divine river and bowed at her (the deified form of Ganges) feet repeatedly; Ganges also gave her blessing a with happy heart saying, “O Beautiful One, Your fortunate marriage is for ever and without any break (signifying the fact that her companion Shri Ram was in fact the eternal Lord only).” Hearing news of Shri Ram having come there, Guha rushed totally mired in love for the Lord; overly joyed he reached near the one who encompasses the ultimate pleasure. He observed Lord standing along with Sita and fell reverentially over the ground before them forgetting body centric conscience (in Lord’s presence body related concerns should go away to enjoy His company) . Raghuraj Shri Ram took note of Guha’s intense love for Himself and happily lifted him up to bring him close to bosom (the Lord remains always ready to reciprocate in the same emotional state as the Bhaktas have for Him).

After having embraced Guha, the most merciful Lord, the King, and the consort of Rama (Lord Vishnu who is said to have appeared in avatar as Ram) made Guha to sit very close to Himself (signifying that the Bhakta and Bhagwan become closest to each other) and inquired of Guha’s welfare though he happened to be the omniscient Lord. Guha in turn answered in submissive way, “Now it is well for me only after having seen Your lotus feet which are served also by Brahma, the creator and Lord Shiv too. O Ram, You only are the home to blissfulness and have nothing to desire for Yourself, I bows down to You, O Ram, I bow down to You.”

Tulsidas says, “Who is low in many ways (in terms of caste, education, employment and other things) that Nishad (hunter) was taken in embrace by Lord Hari (Ram is referred as Hari) like Bharat; would not I be called a dimwit to not remember such a Lord out of my own delusion and being estranged from reality. This story of the course of life lived by the enemy of Ravan (i e Ram) is very pious and always provides for increasing love for the feet of Shri Ram, the Lord; it takes away lustful cravings and pleasure orientation while it imparts the substantial and pure knowledge in the sphere of spirituality. This story of Ram is sung joyfully by the gods, the Siddhas and the Munis therefore.

The instances related to the winning of war by Raghuveer Shri Ram when listened to by the intelligent Bhaktas, they are given the gift of win over enemies (internal and external), discretion at metal level and grandeur of status regularly by the Almigty Lord. This Kaliyuga is heaped in callousness and filth, if one ponders over; apart from the name of the Shri Raghunath (the Ram Naam) nothing can provide support, succour and the needed stability in such period of time that is known as Kaliyuga.

The aerial car reached pristine and lovely Dandak Van in a short time and Shri Ram visited Rishi Kumbhaj and other leading Munis in their respective Ashrams. After having blessings from the Munis, Shri Ram, the Supreme Lord of Universe, came to Chitrkoot (where he had spent 13 years in exile) and made it a point to please every Muni there, later the air-craft took off securely to cover final lap of journey. Shri Ram showed Janki Sita the beautiful Yamuna, the river that can wash off the impurities collected in Kali Yuga. Shortly after words Shri Ram sighted the pure and divine river Ganga and told, “Sita, do Pranama to Ganga, now look at The principal Teerth (holy place) Prayag also which is capable of removing effect of sins of numerous previous births if one just pays a visit there. Have glimpse of Triveni, the confluence point of three rivers, Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswati, which steals all sadness and is like the ladder to climb up to the Lord Hari’s own place. Now you can set your eyes on Avadhpuri, the very pure city, it is capable of removing all the three kinds of afflictions and also the disease of being born over and over again.”

The gracious Lord, joined by Sita, did Pranama to Avadh time and again from above while having tearful eyes and thrilled body; Shri Ram had repeated surge of happy mood. Later the Lord reverted to descend at Prayag and had holy bath in Triveni and also gave alms to the Vipras of various kinds helped by the monkeys (at all occasion the riches must be used for benefit of Vipras).

When Raghuraj Shri Ram noted the senior member of His fighting team in a state of extreme love for Himself, He took all of them on board the air-craft. Shri Ram then mentally bowed his head down at the feet of the Vipras (Learned Brahmins) and instructed the air-craft to be taken in direction of north. When the air-craft moved it made noise and the all the people aboard uttered in unison ‘Jai Raghveer’. On a high seat which looked charmingly beautiful set the Lord along with Shree (Sita). Shri Ram accompanied by His consort presented a sigh resembling a cloud and lightening perched together on the peak of mountain Meru. The magnificent and impressive aerial car shot forth with alacrity and at that stage the gods rained flowers over it. The three way pleasant wind giving lot of happiness blew over the clean waters of ocean, ponds and the rivers. All around the good omens could be seen taking place. The clear sky and the happiness within gave hopeful message.

Raghuveer Shri Ram, now settled, asked Sita to look at the battle ground below and pointed out to her saying, “Lakshman killed Meghnath over there. The big demons lying dead in large number were slain by Angad and Hanuman. Kumbhkaran and Ravan, the two brothers, who were tormentors of gods and Munis were also killed here only (the Lord kept it unsaid that it was Him who killed them; its never in good taste to speak loudly of ones own achievements).

Shri Ram then pointing out a spot said, “It was here that I got the bridge constructed and installed Shiv, the blissful Lord (in form of a Linga).” Speaking thus the merciful Lord along Sita did Pranama to Shambhu (Shiv). All along the way the most merciful Lord kept showing Sita the spots where he had stayed in forest (after her abduction) and told specific names also (as a husband He was always ready to satisfy curiosity of the wife).

Laying hands on ornaments and clothes, the bears and monkeys wore them on their bodies and came to show to Raghupati Shri Ram. Kaushaldheesh Shri Ram laughed heartily watching the monkeys in different attires put on in various ways. Looking at them with His benign and kind glance, Raghuraj Shri Ram spoke to them in soft words, “its on your strength that I have killed Ravan and later could establish Vibhishan in throne of Lanka; now is the time for you all to go back to your respective places and reach homes. You must remember Me taking my name and never ever fear any one.”

These words made monkeys very love drenched and emotional and all of them joined hands respectfully and told Shri Ram, “O Lord, what you told is appropriate and beautiful but this also has created some confusion in our minds. You took us in Your protective embrace knowing us to be helpless and without means as You are the Lord and Master of the three worlds, O Raghunath Shri Ram. Listening You, O Lord, give us credit for the win etc we feel very embarrassed; is it ever possible for the mosquitos to be helping the king of birds Garud.”

The bears and monkeys then waited for the reaction of Shri Ram, the Lord, they were totally lost in love for Him and never wished to go back to their homes.

Ultimately encouraged and prompted by Lord, they left keeping the image of Shri Ram, the Lord, in their hearts; they were all happy and sad too but did leave after giving vent to their feelings and offering their respectful salutations.

The leaders of the bears and monkeys namely Monkey King Sugreev, Neel, Bear King Jamvant, Angad, Hanuman and Nal along with Vibhishan and some other brave monkey chiefs stayed put and could not speak anything being under spell of love and just had tears falling from eyes. Standing before Shri Ram, their Lord and Master, they kept looking at Him without blinking eyes.

(The love is such an emotion that even the animals have it. The presence of Lord can be felt by them too and they can very well distinguish divinity apart from the form before them in avatars. Lord on His part loves animals no less and is ever kind to them too.)

When Lord Shiv left after offering his prayers, Vibhishan came forward to submit to Lord and bowed down at His feet then began to speak in soft tone, “O Lord, kindly listen to my submission while You are beholden of Shrang (the bow); You have killed Ravan along with his family and his team-mates which has spread Your sacred and purifying fame all over the world. You extended Your gracious kindness to help me in many ways otherwise I was helpless, malacious, of low intellect and belonged to low caste. Lord, I invite You now to make my home sacred by stepping there and have Your body cleansed, massaged and bathed so that the war-borne fatigue may be lost. Kindly also have a look at the treasury, the palaces and other wealth which may be distributed to monkeys with pleasure (Vibhishan meant that the soldiers from the winning side deserve to get share in wealth of the defeated king). Then O Master, You must accept me as Your own in every way before You leave for Ayodhya along with me. The polite words of Vibhishan stirred the heart of Shri Ram, the ever kind Lord towards the poor and downtrodden, bringing tears to His large and beautiful eyes.

Shri Ram responded saying, “Your declaration that your wealth etc and the property is mine too and I believe your statement as being true, O Brother. But when I reflect on the condition that my Brother is passing through, a moment becomes like a Kalpa (a whole cycle of time) for me. He is only remembering me continuously living like an ascetic and keeping frail body. My Friend, I beseech you to device means that would make me see him forthwith. The period of exile is nearing end and beyond that time I don’t expect to see my brother Bharat alive (as this is his resolve).”

Recollecting His younger brother’s love for Himself, the Lord had thrills in His body repeatedly (nothing moves the Lord as much as devotion with love for Him by His Bhaktas).

Lastly Shri Ram, the Lord, advised Vibhishan, “You will rule for a long period of time but you must keep remembering me and keeping my image in your heart. Later you will surely deserve to get to stay with me in my place where all saints go and stay (this is how Lord endorsed the fact of Vibhishan being a saint in reality though committed to discharge duties as king. If anyone carries out duties that come his way while remembering the Lord all the time then it does not matter what he does, he will still be destined to stay with Lord in His abode).

Lord Shiv began to offer his prayer unto Shri Ram and praise Him in a wise manner saying, “O the Leader of the Raghu’s Family, be specially protective to me, You already are holding a nice bow and have an arrow in hand (he meant to say that You, in the present form of avatar as Ram are not just a neutral God but seem to be ready to punish the miscreants). You are able to smash the thick veil of misunderstanding and can burn down the jungle of doubts, O the Delighter of the Gods.

“Though You are the same God without attributes yet have appeared in form with attributes and housing beautiful qualities and virtues. You act as mighty sun to dispel the darkness of deluding profound confusions. Like a lion to kill the elephantine lust, anger and stupor, You permanently stay in peoples’ heart (ever ready to be invoked).

“You work as frost for the destruction of the bed of lotuses that is born out of desires generated in minds and are generous to extent that can’t be easily grasped by mind. In the ocean of being that might drown anyone, You appear as Mount Mandar which can churn it but also can rescue from this difficult to put up with mundane existence.

“You have swarthy body and lotus like eyes; You are ever a friend of helpless and save suppliants from miseries and woes. O Ram, You must continuously remain in deep recesses of my heart along with Your younger brother and Janki Sita.”

Tulsidas says that Shri Ram, his Lord, amuses the Munis and has made the globe a better place by changing the conditions that brought misery to people (by killing Ravan).

Lord Shiv lastly left telling Shri Ram, “O Master, when your coronation ceremony will take place in Ayodhya (upon Your return post 14 years period in exile), I will come there to further have glimpse of Your magnificent ways of conduct and course of generous behaviour, O Most Merciful Lord.”

Shri Ram then told Indra, “O King of Gods, the moneys and beers who fought on our side and were killed by demons are lying on ground. They lost lives for my cause, you may now bring them back to life, O Wise Head of Gods.”

Kaakbhushundi explained here for benefit of Garudaa saying, “O King of Birds, pay attention to what Lord said to Indra; it has a lot of depth in it and the knowledgeable Munis only catch what it tells. The Lord is capable of destroying all three worlds and bring them to existence again but here He is just giving importance and glory to Indra.” Indra then showered nectar over the dead bodies of monkeys and beers and brought them back to life; regaining life they came near the Lord. Though the nectar rained over the dead from both sides, it gave life back only to monkeys and bears and not to demons. It was due to the fact that demons while fighting against Ram had their minds concentrating on Ram hence were liberated while dying and were relieved of getting tangled in process of rebirth (if the Lord is in thought immediately before death one gets liberated, this principle worked for such culmination of life). The moneys and beers had some degree of presence of the gods in them while coming on earth (to help the Lord in fight against Ravan) and lived on, as Ram so wished (gods are supposed to never die and therefore Shri Ram, the Lord wished none of beers and monkeys get killed).

There is none as welfare oriented for the burdened and distressed people as Ram (both as the son of Dashrath and as the Supreme Lord) that He liberated the entire army of demons (relieving from life of curse and liberating from rebirth). The vile Ravan, a heap malice, was mired in lustfulness; he also had opportunity to fare in such direction after death that is hard to be availed even by great Munis.

Later the gods left in a happy mood after showering flowers, in their decorated aerial vehicles. After melee when quietness prevailed, Lord Shiv, the wise one among the Gods, approached the Lord. Killer of Tripurasur (Lord Shiv), with lots of love in heart and wetness in eyes, having thrill in body and with hands folded, began to extoll and submit to the Lord in voice that was surcharged with emotion.

After Brahma left offering his prayers, King Dashrath appeared on the scene (he was in the form that one gets after death for enjoying the heaven etc) and had tears in eyes looking at his son. Shri Ram and younger brother Lakshman paid homage to father displaying reverence for him and also received blessings of the father. Shri Ram then said, “Taat (father), its all result of your good deeds that you performed while living on earth that I have been able to establish win over the King of Demons (Ravan) who otherwise happened to be unwinnable (the good deeds of father help the progeny too).” Listening to the words of the son Dashrath had his body’s hair stand up while his heart felt a sudden surge of love for his son. Shri Ram then reflected on how much father had loved him while alive that he could not cling to life any more after getting separated from him; Shri Ram, the Lord, then glanced in the direction of Dashrath in a way that imparted him real knowledge (about who he as Ram in reality is) that would stay because every time when this fact emerged before Dashrath he used to ignored it and thought of Ram as just his dear son.

At this stage Lord Shiv tells Parvati, “Uma, Dashrath did not get liberation though he deserved because he had put his heart totally in devotion placing himself as one who loves and Lord as beloved and not appreciating oneness of Jeeva and Brahman (beings and the Lord). In fact those who devotedly worship the Lord’s manifested forms (as avatars) do not accept Moksha (the total liberation after which coming to earth as beings stops) and they are therefore rewarded by Shri Ram, the Lord, His blessings giving them permanent devotion towards Himself which the devotees think as more enjoyable that Moksha itself.”

Dashrath, now equipped with real knowledge, did Pranam (reverential obeisance) time and again and left for heavenly abode.

Lord Indra, the king of gods, appreciated that Kaushaladheesh Shri Ram was unhurt and watched the lord standing with younger brother Lakshman and consort Sita, the daughter of King Janak, presenting a beautiful sight which made him immensely happy and he too began to offer his prayers.

Lord Indra prayed as follows:

“There be glory to You as You are abode of beauty and charm. You are provider of comfort to those who come under your refuge. You hold a nice bow and arrows, Your mighty arms are very capable.

“There be glory to You as opponent of Dushan and Khar (the demon brothers) and as one who earlier annihilated the whole army of demons. Now you have finished this rascal too, O Master, the gods have a patron and a savior in You.

“There be glory to You as one who reduced the burden of earth and displayed limitless and bountiful compassion. O Kindhearted One, there be glory to You for killing Ravan and decimating the demons.

“This king of Lanka was totally mired in arrogance born of his strength with which he ruled over the gods and the Gandharvas (the celestial beings). He even did not leave alone the Munis, the Siddhas, the ordinary mortals, the birds or the Nagas and stubbornly blocked their activities and progress.

“He (Ravan) was always scheming against the people being very vile and hence that sin oriented character has now met the right kind fate. Now, O Friend of the Meek, kindly listen and see it all with Your large lotus eyes where I actually stand. I have been very arrogant myself thinking that none is as superior as me being the head of gods. But now I don’t have carry that kind of arrogance anymore when I have seen Your lotus feet which make one lose his arrogance which is the real reason behind ones’ troubles and sorrows.

“Some meditate upon formless and attributeless Brahman who is mentioned as invisible by the Vedas but my preferred Lord is You who is the King of Kaushala and is known as Shri Ram and is very much present in a beautiful form before me. Now make my heart itself as Your own place of living along with Sita, the daughter of Videh (the king who is beyond the body centric ego and attachment) and with Your younger brother Lakshman (the Sheshanaag on whom You rest as Lord Vishnu). Taking me Your own servant give me Your devotion as reward, O Ramaniwas (in whose heart Rama, that is Lakshmi, stays and who stays in Rama’s heart.

“Give me Your devotion, O Ramaniwas, You only can remove all that causes trouble, You only can provide relief to shelter seekers. O Blissful Ram, I bow down to You, You posses charm equalling many cupids as Raghunayak Shri Ram. In Your avatar in human form too You posses immeasurable power and look charming to us gods and You destroy any kind of conflicts nursed in mind. O Lord Ram, I bow down to You as You display a very soft side drenched in compassion, You are the same one who is worshipped by Lord Shiv and Brahma, the creator, and others like him.

“Kindly throw Your merciful glance towards me and allow me to leave while instructing me what I may do next.” Listening to decent words of Indra, the ever gracious Shri Ram also responded in endearing words.

(It is subtly indicated here that though Brahman as Nirgun and as Sagun is the same yet worshipping Nirguna is dry and difficult process while worshipping Saguna is sweet and interesting process.)

Brahma, the creator, then began to sing praises of Shri Ram, the Supreme Lord as follows:

“Victory to You O Shri Ram, You are the real abode of bliss and steal sense of displeasure; You as Raghunayak, the leader of Raghus, hold bow and arrow for protection of saints!

“You kill the elephant, that the world is in terms of our intoxicating existence, as a lion being very swift at it, O Lord; You are an ocean of virtues and are very sophisticated, O Omnipresent and Most Exalted Lord.

“You have a body that has glamour and charm like that of many cupids together; Your virtues are known to and sung by the Siddhas, the Great Munis and intelligent people.

“Your glorious fame is sacred too, You killed Ravan, the big villain, like a large serpent would be caught and killed by the angry Garuda, the king of birds.

“You are the cause of happiness and pleasure of the people, and take away their sense of grief and of fear while You Yourself never have any kind of anger but remain totally calm with real understanding.

“This avatar of Yours (as Ram) is very magnanimous and reflects most of Your limitless virtues; it has been taken by You to lighten the burden of earth and display the essence of Your qualities and virtues.

“O Ocean of Mercy, O Shri Ram, I bow down to You with maximum delight knowing full well that You are since ever hence unborn, You are all-pervading, You are the only one of Your kind and will ever be when nothing else remains.

“You are the ornament of the family of Raghu and annihilated the demon known as Dushan (literal meaning fault) and made Vibhishan the king of Lanka while he too was a demon by birth and also helpless but displayed saintly qualities.

“I bow down to You, O Ram, daily as the Lord without any thing mundane about You; You are most virtuous, most knowledgeable, without an ego and without any beginning in reality.

“Your arms are very strong, Your might is substantial and You are expert in the art of wiping out the hosts of vile characters.

“Most of all You are merciful towards the helpless and meek as well ensure their welfare but without looking for a reason to do so; O Abundantly Beautiful One, I bow down to You along with Your consort Rama as You both together seem to be more charming.

“You only can take us beyond the world and You are real reason for whom we need to leave the world behind; You only can steal the vices that are born due to play of mind when mind is directed to meditate upon You.

“O Ram, The Great King, You possess a set of beautiful bow, arrows and quiver, while Your eyes have a reddish tinge like that of a red

“O Shri Ram, You delight Shree (Lakshmi) and get delighted in Her company (as Vishnu), and this makes You an abode of bliss and You kill the arrogance in people as well as kill their sense of attachment and uncalled for sense of ownership.

“It is difficult do enough while praising You and You are a seemless entity without parts and Your reality is beyond comprehension through the senses, it is possible when one transcends beyond their scope; while You reflect in all forms but hardly ever become that Yourself.

“What I have said is not a gossip but it has been stated by Vedas; You and Your manifestation should be taken as sun and the heat generated by sun, as one and as different too as per the context.

“These monkeys have received sumptuous reward for what they did for You as they now have the fortune of having a look at Your face with reverence (because the real reward for what we do as Jeevas lies in having glimpse of the Lord).

“Even the lives lived having ethereal bodies of gods is not so worthy, O Hari, because it is lived without devotion towards You and without remembering Yo, (but humans can do it).

“O Shri Ram, the Friend of Humble, show mercy and steal the weakness of my own intellect that sees the world as my own creation and as different from You (the spell of Maya is hard to deny even for Brahma who has been entrusted by Lord to create the worlds and he too seeks Lord’s help for being saved).

“I have been doing some things that do not match the mind of Yours at some times because of that weakness and I draw pleasure while it only would be the cause of dissatisfaction and distress ultimately (there seem some phenomenon that are not as per the laws of nature because God is obliged to save His selfless devotees).

“O Destroyer of the Ravenous Rogues, and Saviour of the this beautiful earth, Your feet are worshipped by Lord Shiv and Parvati Uma, now bless me with a boon, O Monarch among kings of earth, that I develop love for Your lotus feet and that way ensure good tidings for self at all times.”

In this manner the four-faced Brahma finished his prayers with a thrilling body and his eyes never seemed to be satisfied enough looking at Shri Ram, the ocean of charm.

(Brahma, the creator, repeatedly confirms that Shri Ram and the Supreme Lord are not different.)

Matali, the charioteer sent by Indra, left after bowing his head down before Raghupati Shri Ram when he got signal to leave (Shri Ram had just respected the wishes of head of gods in accepting the divine chariot but saw no further use of it as war was over; accepting help for a common cause from others is Okay but not for only selfish needs). The gods who are always mired in their own selfish interests came forward now but speaking in a way showing love for the ultimate objectives in life, they said, “O Friend of Humble and Merciful One, O Raghuraj Shri Ram, O Our Benefactor, You have kindly shown mercy towards us. This lustful one and vile one who has been engaged in destroying the world and followed only the evil ways and bad paths, has been finished due to his own sins. You are the imperishable Brahman (the Supreme Lord) and therefore have a balanced disposition, You have an equanimous self which is beyond anger or favor, You are neutral in a natural way. You are not made in parts, You are beyond Gunas (the traits), You are unborn, You are beyond sinning, You are above afflictions, You are unconquerable and invincible, You posses limitless power and most of all You always are compassionate.

“You took avatars in forms as Meen (fish), as Kamatth (tortoise), as Shukar (boar), as Narsimh (half human half lion), as Vaman (in dwarf form) and as Parashuram (weapon wielding Brahmin). When ever we gods were in trouble You came for rescue in various forms as the need be. This villainous rascal was always engaged in tormenting us and was very lustful, greedy, arrogant and most of all very angry and agitated at all times. This principal character among the most vile also got to attain Your world, this is surely most astonishing factor to us. We gods are most deserving for it but O Lord, we forgot to remain devoted to You on account of our selfish nature (the selfish nature turns away from the Lord, when it is true for the gods, it is more true for us mortals). We always flowed with the currents of this world but now the time has come when to seek Your shelter and refuge.”

After their prayer unto the God, the gods remained there and Siddhas too with their hands folded reverentially; then came the turn of Brahma (the creator) to offer praises with intense love and with thrilled body.
